Seetalabs is the engineering and software project led by Massimiliano Vurro, whose professional work in technical and regulatory fields began in 1999. He started Seetalabs in 2019, bringing that experience to transformer diagnostics and the development of Ronin AI.

RONIN began as a transformer health-index method. Ronin AI now combines data preparation, deterministic diagnostic methods, uncertainty calculations, fluid-specific interpretation, trend review and Action Plan reporting.

The story

How RONIN developed from a health-index method.

The original model remains one component. Ronin AI keeps trained models, diagnostic rules and uncertainty calculations separate so that each result can be traced to the method that produced it.

2019

Registered

RONIN AI enters the Italian public software registry. The method and the interpretable model are built and trained on real transformer data.

2020 to 2024

Applied

Used on transformer assets with utilities, steel plants, OEMs and testing laboratories across seven countries, including work with CERN. Presented at international industry events.

Since 2024

Continued development

Massimiliano Vurro leads the continuing development of Seetalabs and Ronin AI, combining technical expertise, regulatory analysis and advanced computational methods. His professional career began in 1999.

Today

In preparation

Existing customers continue to use Ronin AI. Version 2 is nearing completion, bringing together laboratory data preparation, condition and trend interpretation, Action Plan review and reporting.

Why the name RONIN

Method, inputs and limits should remain visible.

The name RONIN refers to makoto (誠), commonly translated as sincerity. For this product, the practical requirement is simple: identify the method, data and limits behind each result.

A useful diagnostic result must explain its basis and limits. Ronin AI identifies assessment methods, preserves distinctions between measured and missing data, and separates condition from probability of failure.

Each result should retain the method, inputs, assumptions and limits used to produce it.

Since 1999 I have had one job that changed name about ten times: I enter a field I do not know, learn it fast, and dig until I find what the specialists stopped seeing. Industrial compliance, then ecodesign, then artificial intelligence. In 2019 I pointed the same method at power transformers.

Court-appointed technical expert at the Court of Turin. Taught Industrial Standardisation and Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. Founder of Ecotp and Quantic. Independent expert in the Plenary of the European Commission's Code of Practice for general purpose AI.

AI does not replace transformer physics. Diagnostic value still depends on the measurements, their history and the method used to interpret them.
